Fan of the Five Winds: strengthen a Guardsmen march
Choose the Fan for its Guardsmen bonus and judge secondary bonuses against the army you actually send.
By ClanOps · Updated

What the Fan does
Fan of the Five Winds has a Guardsmen-strength main bonus. It is a natural candidate for a Guardsmen-heavy fighting march. Its current percentage depends on progression; a percentage from someone else’s screen is not a universal starting value.
Which Captain should wear it?
Use a developed combat Captain who is actually leading your Guardsmen. Aydae or Cleopatra may be useful candidates depending on your collection and battle plan. Compare the whole setup rather than treating either name as a requirement.
If most of the damage comes from monsters or mercenaries, a Guardsmen-only main bonus may affect less of the army than expected. Compare against another Artifact whose bonus text applies to the units doing the work.
Read the secondary bonuses
The Fan can have random army-strength bonuses of different rarities. A stronger secondary roll can change the comparison, but do not assume every Fan has it. Check what is unlocked on your own item and whether the next upgrade is a level, star or random-bonus change.
Test before committing
Keep your Captain, enemy and troop mix comparable. Change only the Artifact, then compare the march statistics and battle report. Prefer repeatable improvement at a manageable recovery cost over one unusually good result.
See Artifact levels, stars and summons and the Ragnarök guide.
Check current requirements in-game before committing troops or resources.
