Where to find Total Battle research costs
Use the cost guide to choose a research branch, then find the technology and level you need. For a Guardsmen upgrade, start with the troop research tables and check the requirements shown in your Academy.
Your remaining cost depends on your current progress. The final unlock is only one part of the bill if prerequisite technologies or building upgrades remain unfinished.
Choose the right cost table
| You are planning | Start here |
|---|---|
| A new troop tier | Troops |
| Army improvements | Army modernization |
| Required building levels | Buildings |
| Equipment research | Blacksmithing |
| Crypt research | Archeology |
| Production improvements | Economy |
| Monster progression | Monsters |
| Transport and march-related research | Logistics |
Use the entry labels and your in-game research tree together. Two technologies with similar names can belong to different parts of your plan.
Count only what you still need
Open the target technology and work backwards through its unfinished requirements. Write down each required level once. Mark completed requirements as already paid rather than adding their historical cost to your remaining target.
For every unfinished step, record the resources, Valor or other currency shown, the required building level and the time. Keep those units in separate columns: a large resource balance does not cover missing Valor.
Keep three budgets separate
| Budget | What belongs in it |
|---|---|
| Buildings | Required upgrades and their construction resources or special items |
| Research | Unfinished prerequisites and the final unlock |
| First army | Training the troop types and quantities you intend to use |
This prevents a common planning mistake: reaching the new tier with nothing left to train it. Also reserve enough for ordinary recovery and city running costs after the upgrade.
A simple remaining-cost example
Suppose your own notes show 12 million of a resource for unfinished research and 8 million for required buildings. Your project total for that resource is 20 million. If you already hold 7 million, you still need 13 million, plus whatever you reserve for training and recovery.
These are illustrative numbers, not a quoted Guardsmen-tier cost. Repeat the calculation separately for every resource and currency on your actual requirements list.
Do not add both a cumulative total and all the individual rows that make up that total. Check the table heading before using a figure.
Prepare the timer as well as the resources
Review your Aurora and Farhad setup before starting construction or research. Compare the final time displayed with the Speedups and help you expect to use.
If an event is part of your timing plan, read its current rules before finishing the unlock. Avoid assuming that increasing your tier mid-event changes an already-set goal or shop offer.
Check the first army before committing
Write down the troop types, quantities and training costs for your first useful march. Confirm that your Food balance can support the plan, and use the Guardsmen upgrade checklist for the final readiness check.
This page helps you assemble a remaining-cost budget. The linked tables provide the reference entries; the requirements shown in your Academy decide what your account still needs.
Check current requirements in-game before committing troops or resources.
