Army and training
Barracks
Train troops and monsters for your army. Upgrading the Barracks increases training speed and the number of units you can train at once.

Overview
Barracks train the troops that defend your City, attack enemies, gather resources and reinforce allies. Building more Barracks and upgrading them increases your training capacity and speed.
Training troops and monsters
Regular troop training uses Silver and Food. Guardsmen are suited to fighting monster squads, while Specialists are effective against other players’ Cities. Research technologies in the Academy to unlock higher-quality troops.
Barracks also train monsters, including dragons, elementals, giants and beasts. Training monsters uses Dragon Coins and Silver. Choose units whose bonuses suit the enemies you intend to fight.
Understanding army limits
- Leadership limits the Guardsmen and Specialists you can take on a march.
- Authority limits mercenaries on a march.
- Dominance limits trained monsters on a march.
The training limits below are expressed in Leadership and Dominance, rather than a fixed number of individual units.
Troop statistics and upkeep
Speed affects march time, Initiative affects turn priority in battle, and carrying capacity determines how many resources troops can bring back. Upkeep is the Food your army consumes each hour.
A Food deficit increases training costs. Running out of Food reduces your army’s strength and health.
