Tar Workshop

Understand Tar production and storage capacity, why production stops at the cap, and how Workshop upgrades help your Crypt routine.

Tar Workshop: City buildings

What does the Tar Workshop produce?

The Tar Workshop supplies the Tar used to explore Crypts. Higher building levels increase the amount produced each hour and the maximum quantity that can be stored.

What is Tar capacity?

Your City’s Tar capacity is the storage ceiling for naturally produced Tar. Production pauses when that reserve reaches the cap; capacity is not the hourly production rate. Research and Hero talents can also increase the cap. The Workshop produces common Tar; rare and epic Tar have separate reward and purchase sources.

Do not confuse this with Carter’s Tar capacity bonus for an exploration march. The amount you can take on a Crypt trip and the amount your City can produce and store are different limits. Check the specific stat you are trying to improve.

How to increase Tar production

Upgrade your Tar Workshop and compare the hourly production and maximum Tar columns below. Use Tar regularly enough to avoid leaving natural production stopped at capacity. Choose upgrades around how often you explore, not simply the largest storage number.

You normally have one Tar Workshop in your City. Increase its level and applicable bonuses rather than planning several Workshops as you might with Barracks or Mansions.

To make the Tar you already have go further, review your Carter Crypt setup and Torch of Olympus. Better exploration efficiency is a different improvement from producing more Tar.

Production and storage

The building’s level benefits also include Rage Potion production and storage. These remain at four per hour and a maximum of 100 throughout levels 1–45.

Level benefits

Tar production and storage grow with building level. Rage Potion limits are shown alongside them.
