Read the target before choosing troops

Use this sheet as a starting formation for the listed Citadel type and level. Elven and Cursed Citadels are separate targets; a formation for one should not be assumed suitable for the other.

Engineer corps have bonuses against fortifications. The supporting troop choice still matters, so check the enemy and the traits of your own units before sending the march.

What the numbers mean

“320 × level 3” means 320 level-3 Catapults. It does not mean 320 of whichever siege unit is available. The listed counts are reference formations, not a guarantee of victory or a universal minimum for every Captain and equipment setup.

Include Griffins in every Citadel attack if you have them.

Prepare the attack

  • Verify both the Citadel type and level on the map.
  • Select the Catapult tier and count from the matching row.
  • Choose the supporting troop family listed for that target.
  • Review Captain, equipment and army bonuses before sending.
  • Make sure the potential losses fit your revival and replacement budget.

Use the report to improve the next attempt

Review what survived, what was lost and whether the fortifications were the main problem. Compare like-for-like attacks before reducing a successful formation.

If you have changed troop tier, Captain or equipment, treat the next report as a new comparison rather than expecting the old result to repeat exactly.

Why attack an Elven Citadel?

One practical reason is obtaining a key for a Rare Crypt of the same level. Check the Crypt research and Rare Tar you will need as well, so the key contributes to a complete plan.

Read Carter’s Crypt setup before spending that exploration budget.

Check current requirements in-game before committing troops or resources.
