Ancient Vaults
Ancient Vaults
Required Guardsmen tiers, army colours and recommended troop types by vault level.
ClanOps · Updated

Use the right formation for the Vault
Choose the Vault level and colour before assembling your army. The reference below gives a starting point for Guardsmen tiers and troop choices; the actual entry conditions shown on your Vault remain the deciding check.
G2, G3 and the other G labels mean Guardsmen tier, not Captain level. Matching a tier recommendation does not tell you how many troops your particular army needs.
Before joining
Ask the organiser for the target level, required colour and requested troop types. Check those three things before filling the march, especially when several Vaults are being organised at once.
Vault requirements
| Vault level | Minimum Guardsmen | Recommended troops |
|---|---|---|
| 10–14 | G2+ | Mounted or Archers only |
| 15–19 | G3+ | Mounted or Archers only |
| 20–24 | G4+ | Mounted or Flying only |
| 25–29 | G5+ | Mounted or Flying only |
| 30–34 | G6+ | Flying, Archers or Melee |
| 35–39 | G7+ | Flying, Archers or Melee |
| 40–44 | G8+ | Any troops |
| 45 | G9 | Any troops |
Important notes
Griffins can be sent on any Ancient Vault level.
- The highest vault level available is determined by your Guardsmen level.
- Your army colour must match the vault colour for the raid to succeed.
Turn the table into a march
Read across the row for your target, then select only the recommended troop families for that formation. Check the troop portrait’s traits if a nickname is unclear. A troop’s name, tier and battlefield type are separate details.
The Griffins note is a formation recommendation, not permission to ignore the Vault’s entry requirements or your organiser’s instructions.
Coordinate before spending
- Agree who is organising the attempt and which Vault everyone is joining.
- Confirm the level and colour in the actual march window.
- Check the requested composition before sending.
- Compare the resulting battle report with the plan.
If the result is expensive, change one part of the plan at a time. Adding every troop you own makes it harder to understand whether the selected formation helped.
Keep results that are useful next time
Record the target, participating tiers, Captain setup and losses. A useful comparison needs the same kind of target and a similar army setup; a successful result from a much stronger account is not a reliable minimum for yours.
See Heroics formations and Runic Raids for separate activity-specific references.
Check current requirements in-game before committing troops or resources.
