Training speed versus training queue size

Understand the difference between finishing a batch faster and fitting more troops into it, with examples from the Barracks.

Two separate limits

Training speed affects how long a selected batch takes. Queue capacity affects how much you can select for that batch. A larger queue is useful, but it does not by itself mean each troop finishes sooner.

Capacity is not always a headcount

The Barracks table expresses queue capacity in Leadership and Dominance. At level 35, for example, it lists 2,000 Leadership in training and 500 Dominance in training. Those values are not a promise of 2,000 of any troop or 500 of any monster.

The troop’s capacity requirement matters. As a simple hypothetical example, a 2,000-point queue would hold 1,000 units costing two points each, or 500 units costing four each. Use the requirements shown for your selected unit.

Compare speed using a fixed batch

Choose the same type, tier and quantity each time you compare setups. If one screen shows a larger batch, the longer timer does not prove your speed bonus stopped working.

Check the final time after activating your training setup. Helen supports training speed, and Barracks upgrades improve both speed and capacity. The Barracks table lets you compare those gains independently.

Choose the improvement that solves your problem

If the queue fills while the timer is still much shorter than the time you will be away, more capacity may help you keep training during that absence. If you can already fit the batch you need but it finishes too late, speed is the more relevant limit.

Do not maximise the batch simply because the slider allows it. First decide how many units you can afford to recruit and support.

Speed does not remove a Food Deficit

Training duration and the Silver cost are separate checks. A food deficit can increase training costs even when your speed setup is excellent. Recheck production and upkeep before a large recruitment session.

A practical training routine

  • Pick the troop type and tier needed for your next task.
  • Set the quantity you can afford and maintain.
  • Prepare your training Captain, equipment and available bonuses.
  • Compare the final timer and resource cost for that exact batch.
  • Start training and use available help before deciding on Speedups.
  • Review Food balance again after adding the new troops.
