Staying safe during Clash for the Throne—even if you are not competing

Not attacking does not mean the event cannot affect you

Defending your City can earn CP and move you into the top 100, where Shield of Peace activation is blocked. Recheck the event ranking after a defensive battle, even if you never intended to compete.

Make a protection check part of your normal login during the event. It takes less effort to identify an exposed portal or an expiring shield beforehand than to improvise while an enemy march is approaching.

Separate the reasons a shield can be unavailable

The event restriction and the normal 20-minute restriction are different blockers. Waiting out one does not remove another.

Read the activation message for your current situation. Being outside a remembered ranking or reaching the end of a timer is not proof that a shield can now be used.

Check hostile-action warnings before scouting or attacking another player's City. Do not build a plan around switching protection back on immediately afterwards. Special event targets may have different rules; do not apply their exceptions to ordinary City actions.

An open portal is a separate route into your City

A Shield of Peace protects against direct City attacks, but an enemy can attack through your open portal and bypass the City Walls. A shield icon therefore does not make a forgotten portal safe.

Review every portal you own. Close those no longer needed, and coordinate first if Clanmates are relying on one for an active journey. Check the return route after closure; the journey can change.

When borrowing a Clanmate's portal, remember whose City is exposed. Agree an end time and a watcher. Watching the portal can help you notice activity, but it does not prevent an attack.

Do not improvise with reinforcements

You can send reinforcements while shielded, but you cannot send them to a shielded recipient. Hosting them also prevents the recipient from activating a shield.

Before moving troops, agree the destination, purpose and return plan with the other player. Do not assume that sending troops away makes them invulnerable or that a host can immediately shield afterwards. Check the protection and threats at both ends.

If you need a change to the arrangement, coordinate it explicitly. A last-minute recall or closure can disrupt someone else's defence or returning march.

Reduce unnecessary resource exposure

Keep unopened resource packs for when you actually need them. Avoid opening extra supplies merely to tidy the inventory before logging out. Use resources for planned development where useful, without rushing into a poor purchase solely to reduce a visible balance.

Check what your own storage protection covers and what remains exposed. A large resource stockpile and an army away from home deserve particular attention, but neither tells you the outcome of a possible battle by itself.

Do not send a retaliatory attack simply to respond to an incoming march. First inspect the target, your available army and the new restrictions the action would create.

Before you leave the game

• Check the live event ranking and any recent defensive reports.
• Review all outgoing and returning marches.
• Close unused portals and confirm the status of shared ones.
• Coordinate any hosted reinforcements with their owners.
• Read the actual Shield of Peace activation message or remaining duration.
• Confirm protection is active where permitted; do not mistake an item in your inventory for an active shield.

If activation is blocked, remain deliberate about your next step and contact your Clan while you can still coordinate. A reminder on your phone can help you return for a timer, but it cannot guarantee protection while you are away.
