Clash for the Throne

Before you chase the top 100: prepare your army, Silver and defences

Build a realistic ranking plan with a recovery reserve, tested army, Clan coordination and a clear point at which to stop spending.

Decide what a place is worth to you

Start with a purpose: supporting a Clan candidate, taking part in Kingdom organisation or making a planned attempt at qualification. “I am close to the cutoff” is not a budget.

The top-100 boundary moves as other players score. Record the current cutoff and time remaining, then reassess at sensible intervals. Do not turn one early snapshot into a fixed target or assume that last event's score will be enough this time.

Read the event safety guide before committing. A ranking attempt needs a plan for City exposure as well as points.

Separate your reserves from your event budget

Write down what you can spend without compromising your next important upgrade or your ability to rebuild. Count recovery costs, not just the troops currently in your City.

ReserveWhat to allow for
Silver and other recovery resourcesThe losses you can afford to restore, using the actual recovery screen
Replacement troopsPermanent losses and troops you choose not to revive
March speedupsA fixed allowance for the journeys you intend to make
Normal developmentTraining, research and construction already planned
TimeScouting, fighting, reviewing reports and managing the return

Keep these amounts separate in your own notes. If continuing requires spending the reserve you intended to protect, pause and decide again; previous spending is not a reason to continue.

Prepare one useful army before expanding it

Choose a target and match the formation to it. Check active Captains, equipment, Artifacts and the troops actually selected. An army designed for one epic is not automatically suitable for a defended City.

For player targets, scout before attacking. If you arrange a CP exchange, agree the target, troop limits, sequence and stopping point with the other player. Begin with a modest test that both sides can afford.

Read the report and recovery screen after that test. Compare points gained with the real loss and recovery cost. Keep only comparisons that use similar conditions; changing troop tiers, leaders and target strength together makes the result hard to interpret.

Check any revival benefit for this battle

Do not budget as though Clash for the Throne itself guarantees Silver revival or zero permanent losses. A separate event may change recovery conditions, but it must cover the battle you are about to fight.

Check the active rules and the available recovery options. If the expected benefit is missing, stop and revise the plan. The revive or retrain guide helps compare the alternatives without assuming every casualty should be recovered.

Agree support before you need it

Share your intended play window, target type and contact method with the Clan. If another member provides a portal, agree who watches it and when it closes. Do not assume a busy Clan chat means somebody is monitoring your route.

Reinforcements need particular care. Hosting allied troops blocks shield activation; sending your own troops to help an ally is a different situation. Also, your troops fighting other players as an ally's reinforcements do not earn you Clash for the Throne points. Agree whether you are providing support or pursuing your own score.

Track the cost of continuing

After each planned group of battles, review your event position, resources remaining, recoverable losses and time available. If a competitor raises the cutoff sharply, calculate the additional commitment before responding.

Stop if the target changes, your reports become much worse, the agreed partner is unavailable or you no longer have time to handle the aftermath. These are reasons to reassess, even when your current rank looks promising.

Finish with the next stage in mind

Confirm the final result in-game rather than relying on a screenshot taken before the deadline. If you qualify, move to the voting checklist. If you do not, review what the attempt cost and what you learned before planning the next one.

In either case, inspect recovery deadlines, returning marches, open portals and your actual protection status before leaving. A sensible attempt should leave you able to keep playing after the event.

Check current requirements in-game before committing troops or resources.
