Ancients
Rise of the Ancients: be ready before the squad is summoned
Coordinate the summon, budget your attacks and use battle reports to make the Ancient squad window count.
By ClanOps · Updated

Agree the window before it starts
Only the Clan Leader and Superiors can summon the Ancient squad. Arrange a time with them before committing your army and recovery resources. Confirm the location and make sure the officers have the four free map tiles needed for the summon.
Do not assume a message saying “Ancients today” means the target is already available. Ask for a specific time and timezone, and check clan chat for any change before sending marches elsewhere.
Check that you can participate
The event requires at least 24 hours of clan membership. Leaving and rejoining resets that clock, and moving the clan to another Kingdom can affect eligibility. Check this before arranging a move close to the event.
Once eligible, prepare while the clan is still organising. Bring the army home, finish any intended recovery and check your Captain equipment. Avoid using the last of a resource on a separate activity just before the summon.
Set a personal spending limit
Choose a recovery budget before the first attack. It should leave enough for your next planned activity as well as ordinary city development.
Do not assume the special revival terms from Vault raids also apply to this epic fight. Read the actual recovery options and costs before committing to repeated attacks. A battle can offer attractive rewards and still be too expensive for your current plans.
If you are new to the event, leave room in that budget to learn from the first report. Copying a large account’s troop count without matching its bonuses can produce a very different result.
Use the first report to plan the next march
Send an attack you can afford to recover, then inspect the result. Compare damage, rewards and losses rather than judging only the biggest points number.
- Note the target level and your Captain setup.
- Record the troop types and tiers you sent.
- Compare the recovery cost with the rewards you actually received.
- Decide whether another attack fits your remaining budget and the time left.
If you adjust the formation, change one part at a time. Compare similar attacks against the same kind of target; different squad levels and bonuses can make a simple before-and-after comparison misleading.
See how to read battle reports for a more detailed review.
Understand why the next event may feel harder
The squad level carries between events and advances after the previous squad is defeated. A successful cycle can therefore change what the clan needs to prepare for next time.
If attendance or army strength has changed, officers should review the plan before repeating the previous summon routine. Keep the discussion practical: how many members can attend, what they can afford and what the last reports showed.
Finish with the next cycle in mind
Check your personal event progress and available claims before moving on. Keep one useful report and tell the officers whether time, cost or army readiness limited your participation.
That feedback helps the clan choose its Artifact priorities for the next cycle. Use the Ancients collection to connect the Vault day with the epic battle, and the calendar to plan around estimated future dates.
Check current requirements in-game before committing troops or resources.
